Afraid to Put Yourself Out There? You’re Not Lacking Confidence—You’re Lacking Reps.
You say you’re not ready.
You say you’re not confident enough yet.
That you need to take one more course, tweak your offer, redo your website, get certified in six more things before you’re “legit.”
But let’s be honest—this isn’t about credentials.
This is about fear.
And not fear that you're doing it wrong—fear that you haven’t done it enough to trust yourself yet.
That’s not a flaw. That’s just inexperience.
What You’re Calling “Imposter Syndrome” Might Just Be... Newness
You know what doesn’t feel scary? Walking.
You probably haven’t thought twice today about whether your legs are “qualified” to carry you across the room.
Why?
Because you’ve done it ten thousand times. You’ve got evidence.
Now contrast that with launching your first offer.
Sharing your writing.
Posting your face online.
Raising your prices.
Starting your business.
Saying, “Yes, I can help you” out loud.
Your nervous system short-circuits. Your inner critic starts monologuing. You stare at your screen like it’s personally trying to ruin your life.
Not because you’re incapable.
Because you’re inexperienced.
Confidence Is a Side Effect of Repetition
You don’t build confidence in the void.
You build it by doing the thing and seeing that you didn’t die.
You don’t become a great writer by overthinking your Medium bio.
You don’t get good at coaching by reading more books about coaching.
You don’t become a trusted expert by tiptoeing around visibility until your shadow work is complete.
You become confident by taking action while still scared.
By fumbling. By posting cringe. By learning in real time.
That’s how you earn your voice—not protect it in a vault.
The Real Reason You’re Avoiding Action
Perfectionism is sneaky. It often shows up dressed as “being responsible.”
“I just want to be ethical before I charge.”
“I’m going to wait until I have a full framework.”
“I’ll post when I’ve niched down more.”
“Once I finish my rebrand, then I’ll show up.”
But underneath all of it?
A deep fear of being seen in the messy middle.
Of doing it before it’s perfect.
Of being average before you’re amazing.
And let’s be real:
There is no world where your first post, client, program, or podcast will be your best work.
And that’s not a problem.
That’s the process.
The Embarrassment Tax
Every master you admire has paid this.
The price of greatness is willingness to suck in public.
To:
Publish content that gets 3 likes and a pity comment from your cousin
Pitch your offer with shaky hands
Get on Zoom and not sound like Brené Brown your first go
Record a reel that makes you want to delete your entire identity
And still… keep going.
Because the only way to get better is to start when you’re not.
You Don’t Have to Be Ready. You Just Have to Begin.
Stop waiting for confidence.
Stop trying to read your way to certainty.
Stop assuming everyone else has something you don’t.
They don’t.
They’ve just taken more reps.
So here’s your permission slip:
Start now.
Be bad at it.
Iterate. Improve. Keep going.
Because nothing changes until you do.
And fear will shrink the longer you move.
Reflection Questions (for When You’re Sitting in Avoidance Mode)
Where am I telling myself I’m “not ready”—when I’m actually just scared to be seen trying?
What action would I take today if I stopped waiting to feel confident?
What rep can I give myself right now, even if it’s small?
If I knew being average at first was required, how would that free me up?
What am I hiding from because I’m afraid to look “unqualified”?
You don’t become confident and then start showing up.
You show up—and confidence follows.
You’re not an imposter.
You’re just new.
And the only thing between you and the next level is a few hundred messy, awkward, magnificent reps.
If you’re looking for someone in your corner while you take those leaps—someone who’s not afraid to cheer, challenge, and lovingly drag you into your next chapter

Because you don’t have to do this alone.
But you do have to begin.
